Apple is starting their new research, portable multi-touch skins that can be wrapped around 3D objects. Their new multi-touch skins could be used on sporting equipment such as a tennis racket, golf club or hockey stick. The portable multi-touch skins that can be placed on three dimensional objects, that can be used iPod or steering wheel to provide addition GUI interfaces. This new multi-touch skins will enable to multi-touch inputs throughout the process of the object, the users can move one or more fingers on surface to operate the device. Apple says,
However, for the operation of many devices, it is desirable, preferable or even necessary for the user to move his or her fingers over a three-dimensional surface.
Multi-touch skins will contain gestures for configuring and operating the objects according to the filing. Others, various possible real-world applications can be used to operate a steering wheel on a motor vehicle or for instructional purposes in the sporting world throughout multi-touch skins. Two multi-touch skins possibly will also be used jointly to manage the operation of the vehicle. Another incarnation can be a pinch and pick up gesticulation where immediacy sensors detect the direction of the hand after raise up. A display might then be making activated in that way.
So if Apple can able to make such type of multi-touch screen then it will bring a new way for modern technology.
